EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Boone Hall offers nine unique education programs for school groups visiting the plantation. Educational programs are only offered Monday through Friday. All programs require a minimum of fifteen students and must be paid for in advance. For the benefit of the students, we recommend no more than 2-3 parent chaperones per class. Made-to-order boxed lunches are available for an additional fee.

PLANTATION PROGRAMS

Beyond the big house

Visit Boone Hall and learn about slavery on a Carolina Plantation. Tour the grounds, the smokehouse and some of the 18th century slave dwellings. Learn about the Gullah people and culture at a 30-minute Gullah Theater Presentation.

Learn about the early economic history of South Carolina plantations through hands-on activities. Emphasis on indigo, rice and cotton.

Discovering Nature

Experience the natural beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry as we explore the plantation grounds. Learn about South Carolina flora and fauna and take a tractor-pulled wagon ride to see the crops growing on our farm.

Learn about honey bees and their role in growing strawberries and other crops from Boone Hall’s apiarist. Students will each pick a small container of strawberries to take home.
