Black History In America Exhibit

This critically acclaimed self guided tour is on display in eight original slave cabins year round.  For more details, click here.

"Exploring The Gullah Culture"
Boone Hall Plantation is the only plantation in the S.C. Lowcountry to present a live presentation in season of this unique culture adapted by African slaves. These entertaining and educational performances take place in The Gullah Theater, which is located at the end of Slave Street.
Performance Times - Mon.-Sat. 11:30am  1:30pm  3:30pm    Sunday 2pm  4pm

House Tours
The mansion that exists on Boone Hall Plantation today was built in 1936 by Canadian ambassador Thomas Stone as part of the Second Wave of Reconstruction. Guided tours of the first floor allow guests to see how this Georgian-designed home blends recovered materials and antique furnishings to recreate an atmosphere that would have surrounded a Coastal Carolina planter’s family and his guests. This 30 minute tour begins on the front porch and is given by a well informed guide in historical dress. The tour will also introduce you to the history of Boone Hall Plantation and its evolution through several owners since 1681. House tours are presented year round.
Please check in at our hospitality center upon arrival on the day of your visit to schedule your house tour time.

Slave Street and History Presentation
This informative presentation begins at the top of Slave Street in front of the slave cabins.  A tour guide presents a historical look at the living quarters, historic relics, and lifestyle of the slaves that lived here at Boone Hall. This talk is presented year round and visitors are given a schedule of daily times at the front gate upon admission.

Plantation Coach Tour

You will load up on an open air coach in front of the Butterfly Cafe for a 40 minute motorized tour around the plantation. This ride covers one end of the plantation to the other...both geographically and historically. You will see how Boone Hall is a still working plantation that has been continually growing crops for over three centuries. As you ride, our guides will also share stories and information about the different aspects of Boone Hall's history.  This is one of the visitor favorites at Boone Hall and it is available year round weather permitting.

Garden Tour
This tour allows you to see the many various plants, flowers, and trees that are currently growing in the beautiful gardens on the front lawn. One of the main features of our garden are antique roses that are over 100 years old. This tour is self guided.

Butterfly Pavilion
This attraction is fun for all ages.  See many different species of Butterflies on display and witness the different stages of their life cycle. These colorful butterflies fly freely in a Butterfly garden that allows visitors to experience the beauty of this fantastic species in a natural habitat. The exhibit is open primarily during the warmer late spring and summer months. The Butterfly Pavilion will be open for 2014 from mid May thru September.
