Strawberries…Strawberries…and more strawberries… are the centerpiece at Boone Hall Plantation for one of the most popular special events held in the Lowcountry every spring. The Lowcountry Strawberry Festival features a large variety of attractions and activities that are guaranteed fun for all ages. A Giant Ferris Wheel…a carousel…the unique Berry-Go-Round…jump castles…slides…and a carriage ride around the plantation…all are just a few of the amusements available for families to enjoy. There’s also music of all kinds, clowns, and much much more.
This festival continues to grow and the 2009 edition proved to be the most popular ever. A new attendance record was set as over 10,500 guests attended, making The Lowcountry Strawberry Festival one of the premier special events Boone Hall hosts each year. The Pie Eating Contest was very popular again, as every contestant's face got covered with more and more pie with each bite. The Recipe Contest featured a variety of delicious strawberry desserts. The Little Miss Berry Princess Contest was also a huge hit, crowning Chana Driggers of Summerville, as the new Miss Berry Princess.
The size of the event doubled in 2009 and plans are already in the works to make the 2010 festival even bigger...more rides, more music and entertainment, and of course, more strawberries.
Boone Hall was grateful to have this year's Miss Berry Princess contest sponsored by:
And no visit to Boone Hall during this festival would be complete without a chance for the family to pick their own strawberries from our U-Pick fields. A record number of strawberries were picked on the first day of the festival this year...over 8,000 lbs.
Boone Hall wants to thank our sponsors for the 2009 event:
BB&T Bank, Pepsi, and Chick-fil-A of North Mt. Pleasant, whose support help make this event possible for all who attend to enjoy.
U-Picking of strawberries is very popular at Boone Hall in the spring with families, school groups, and visitors from all parts of the state. Strawberries from our U-Pick fields should be available this year until June. For current U-Pick info, call our Produce Line at 843-856-5366.
